Ragged Victorians – Raglan Castle 2024

Last year I visited the Ragged Victorians at Blaenavon Tin Works, this year I visited them  at Raglan Castle – a place I have never been to before, so kill two birds one stone.

A totally different setting to last years – seemed a lot quieter photographer wise, but plenty there and they all gave ‘space’.

Unfortunately, due to economic reasons or availability, some of the past Victorians were not able to attend this event – but still, none the less, a great day out and enjoyable – I even managed to bump into a few people I knew and managed a couple of catch-up chats.

For the main I took headshots – but surprisingly I used my Fuji XF 100-400mm zoom lens – not what I would really consider a portrait lens, but hey I’m happy with the photos that were produced – although at times 100mm is too close!

The weather held off (just about) a few showers here and there but plenty of areas to shelter, the sun – photographers friend or nightmare (when it comes out and glares or casts unwanted shadows) was harsh at times but you have to work with what you get presented with on the day.

Great event, highly considering the SS Great Britain in Bristol theme in December this year – stayed tuned!
